A DAY OF MORNING
Bob Barker To Leave Price Is Right
Bob Barker has finally decided to step down as host of "The Price is Right".
The world's longest serving host on the world's longest running game show is nearly 83, and has been inviting contestants to "come on down" for over three decades.
But it had to end sometime, and that sometime will finally come next June.
"I will be 83 years old on December 12," he explains, "and I've decided to retire while I'm still young."
"Price" started its run on TV in the 50s with Bill Cullen at the helm. The new incarnation - if a 35-year-old show can be called that - began on Sept. 4, 1972, and has never dimmed in popularity.
Despite ongoing criticism that the program is stale and a throwback to a different era, it continues to rack up big ratings in daytime TV. Original Story
